Modelling... What's it all about?

Having been through a very quiet time in my photgraphic business I decided to try my hand at the "Fashion" photography game.
The one thing that has always grabbed my attention is the way models are able to "sell" the product they're modelling. I think a good model knows that the shoot is not about them, it's about the product.
That said when a model is putting their portfolio together, the product is themselves. :-|

Modeling is like acting... actually, it is acting. You have a role to play, that role is to enjoy, experience or interact with the product you are modeling and to be able to convey that joy/ experience to your viewer/ audience.

Here's are a couple of models I've recently had the priviledge of capturing... Have a look and let me know what you think.

I love the way each model's individuality comes through in the image. It's that individuality that sells the product. And it's that individuality and being able to express that individuality in diverse ways that opens the door for the model to be used again.

Nowhere

Sometimes in amongst life's battles one just has to hook out and go someplace no one will find you.
Well Dave, Rich and myself went "nowhere" this last weekend and it was awesome!
I haven't had as good a time in a VERY long time. we could just "hak-uit" and have a real guys weekend... "Vluis en aartappels" each night with FULL English breakfasts each morning. It was EVERYTHING the dr. ordered and then some.

The People You Meet...

I love my Job!
But the part I love is not necessarily the artistic side, it's the side where I get to meet the most amazing people! People are truly amazing! Everyone I meet has the ability to change the world in some small way and some are indeed doing so... While others spend their lives "sleepwalking".
One such family that are making a difference are Victor & Flo who are part of the NPO called "Friends or the Child Protection Unit" in Cape Town.
Having recently done a family shoot at their home I could see the love they exude for those who are victims of someone else's cruel lusts and self loathing.

Victor & Flo, I would like to take this opportunity to honour you for the work you're doing. Keep it up.
